The corpus does not ask whether the conversion will occur. It treats the conversion as already underway, visible in standards bodies and procurement channels and submarine-cable maps, in neural interfaces and behavioral models and compute markets, and asks only what objective function will be embedded in the next layer of governance: extraction or repair. Everything below is one elaboration of that fork.

Begin with the evolutionary frame

Nobody has to be building “the upload” for the upload stack to appear. One community solves acquisition, another serialization, another interpretation, another identity, another embodiment, another custody, another rights framework; eventually the interfaces meet, and the name arrives after the architecture.

That article therefore marks an important transition inside the corpus itself. The question is no longer usefully framed as whether some miraculous scanner will one day extract a complete human mind in a single event.
